Build Assistant

User Guide (V1.0.1)

Build Assistant is a Unity editor tool that automates player builds from a single config. It supports pre-build, build, and post-build actions, CI/CD, and optional plugins. Easily extensible for your own build pipelines.

Build Assistant

Each config runs pre-build actions, the Unity player compile, then post-build actions. Building covers those stages and how to start a run.

Features

  • Config assets you can copy for each platform or storefront.
  • Built-in pre-build and post-build actions.
  • A Build Config Browser so you can run configs without hunting through the Project window.
  • Batch mode for CI, with overrides for build number and workspace.
  • A JSON build report after every run.
  • Runtime build info the player can read, including git or svn revision.
  • Console logging, plus an optional Slack logger if you want the same output in a channel.

Plugins and extensions

Steamworks upload and Slack logging ship as extra UPM packages. Install only what you need from Package Manager. See Plugins.

If you need a platform, storefront, or logger type that is not in those packages, write an action, platform, or logger. The Example Plugin sample is the starting point. Extending Build Assistant has the details.
